100% 4G/5G remote production is becoming the norm in live sports broadcasting

During the broadcast of L’Étoile de Bessèges and the Tour de Provence, the teams at RF FACTORY and Letsee demonstrated that it is now possible to produce a major cycling event remotely, with 100% 4G/5G transmission.

 

The objective was to guarantee mobile, long range, live coverage without deploying an OB van at each stage.

 

To achieve this, RF FACTORY deployed:

- A helicopter equipped with a Starlink connection to boost 4G/5G transmission

- 4G/5G motorcycles for dynamic race tracking

- Three finish line cameras per stage

- A robust and secure 4G/5G transmission architecture

 

Working closely with Letsee, the streams were optimised and made more reliable to ensure consistent broadcast quality, despite the constraints of mobility, terrain and network coverage.

 

The result: a signal transmitted in 4G/5G + Starlink to the L'EQUIPE channel's control rooms, where the production was carried out live remotely.
